Anyone remember Battle Star Galactica? In my humble opinion, it it the most powerful warning about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics to be presented on TV.

It had 2 runs, once in the 1960s and a gritter reboot in the 1990s.

The civilization depicted in the show is similar to ours, but with space ships capable of faster than light (FTL) travel around the galaxy. They mistreated the robots, which were very intelligent and self aware. One day, all the robots just disappeared. Decades  later, they came back with a vengeance. They used the element of surprise to nuke their former masters. Billions died, but a few got away on the Galactica and some other ships. They spent years running from pursuing robot ships with the occasional battle. The robot's goal was to exterminate all humans.

 

There are many other Sci-Fi movies and TV shows dealing with this subject.

 

On the positive side, we have Mr. Data in Star Trek TNG.
